What do you AR owners think? In terms of product quality, reliability and accuracy do you think Bushmaster, Olympic Arms, Rock River Arms, DPMSinc, Armalite or Colt? I guess you can call this a poll or survey. Reason why I askis because I am going to start building onein the coming weeks and I just want to make sure the I get the best quality parts. websites are always biased to I hope I can get more unbiased opinions here
Please keep in mind the chambering differences between .223 and 5.56nato. I find that most problems with ar's accuracy and feeding come from wrong types of ammo. RRA and Armalite supposedly have universal chambers that work with both .223 and 5.56. But I dont have enough experince handling those models with different types of ammo. So if any of you have these in particular please let me know if they really work as advertised.

It depends on what type of rifle you want: varmint, tactical, NM, etc....
For the most part, any of the major brands are pretty good. I have a CMMG Lower with RR parts and a RR NM 2-stage trigger, I will most likely either go custom or RR for an upper.

A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
I was considering an oly lower with a rra upper. I am looking for something tactical. 16-18 barrel over all with a birdcage suppressor. Its purpose is for plinking/defense and overall fun. I want to start with the basic cabine and experiment with different uppers in different lengths. Eventually move to a 24" 6.5 grendel upper if they become more available.

of all the makers you mention, OLY are the only ones who fully in-house manfacture they're rifles, all the rest are in fact parts houses, they buy parts from a pool of vendors and assemble them. you not wanting to shoot long range with a suppressed 16-18-20 inch barrel so any of them will suffice. my advise is get anything you want from OLY or RRA, they are the only ones with a lifetime warranty.
RR
Look, with any of the companies tha tyou listed, there really isn't a wrong answer. ALL of them are shooters. Personally, I shoot a DPMS lower with a Double Star 1/7 Free Floated upper. I replaced my trigger with an HP national Match trigger, and the bolt and carrier with an HP national Match bolt and Carrier.
IMHO, other than the trigger, whatever you choose for a lower isn't going to make all that much difference unless you are shooting competition tactical events, and even then, for most shooters, you will never notice the difference. Your Upper, is really where you are going to make the money since that is where most everything happens. I like my Double Star enough that I have brought my upper to Iraq.
If you buy a lower from any of the major companies you really won't be wrong. The trigger I suggest replacing on all of them. After that, you can put whatever upper on it you want and do a hundred different things with it. Oh, I almost forgot, look into the Magpul adjustable stock for your AR. That will really help as well.
Hope this helps

what about American Spirit Arms? I was considering a ASA lower with a DPMS upper and working from there. ASA also offers a lifetime warranty but I have never handled or even heard too much about them. Any of you know about it?

I have never heard of them. I would suggest staying away, unless somebody here, or that you know can reccomend them honest. If you have never ever heard of them, there might bea reason for that. I would stick to the companies that you are familiar with. Sure, lots of the big companies get their parts from parts bins companies, but they are established as pretty high quality..>Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt...you get the point
With a company you haven't heard of, might now know where their parts are coming from. On the other hand, Lots of people haven't heard of some of the finest custom companies out there.
But, why take a chance.
