Default What to buy???

I got a few extra $ and I want to get a new gun. Trouble is I don't really need one. The really big bores are out cause I don't see me going for any of the big bears or to Africa.
I'm just looking for some ideas. Here are the limitations, 1. I'm a lefty and 2 I want to keep $ to $800 or less.
This is just going to be a 'fun gun'. I was considering a Sharps replica in .45-70. (Sort of fond of this ancient cartridge) But they weigh a ton. I wouldn't mind finding a Ruger #3 in that chambering but can't locate one.
Throw out your suggestions.

1885 Browning or Winchester in 45-70. You can find one for around $800 if you take your time shopping. You can even shoot BP out of it if you want. Tom.

I have a bunch of levers. My favorite is the 1895 Guide Gun followed by the 1894 Cowboy in .44.
That 1885 Browning is a nice looking piece.
I was fondling a Taurus PT-1911 today. Hmmmmmmm..... sure looks nice.

That is what I was thinking. The H&R old buffalo style gun is not bad really. I saw one recently and to tell you the truth I was impressed. They are very cheap compared to the reproduction ones. I was thinking about something in this line myself. The one thing to me though is that when you see it, it is an H&R w/some embellishments. When you pull out a reproduction, you have to at least look it over before you see for sure what you got....well at least I do, I am sure there are those that are more into this that can tell you by the shape in the case...LOL

But for pure shooting fun the H&R is quite accurate and you will have enough money left over to get mostof that Taurus you were looking at!!!

Let us know what you decide. This to me is what having "toys" is all about.

I have a baffalo classic,It is alot of fun.It will handle the big boy rounds and the bp rounds.I got mine for around $325.00, great deal considering how well it shoots.I can do good with the sights on it out to 100 yards but then it gets a little more difficult for me.That is a great round and I think you will like the rifle.

This might sound odd, but I bought a muzzle loader (Omege .50cal) nad have a blast shooting it. I generally hunt with centerfires but have taken up muzzleloading because of the fun and the challenges it brings. If it truly is for fun then i would reccomend giving it a try, you won't be dissapointed!!!!!!!!!!!!
