Default 8mm'06

Any thoughts about a Mauser reamed from 8mm to 8mm'06 ? I have a cheap Yugo with a miss matched bolt that is right at the edge of out of head space according to the smith that wanted to buy it from me . It was purchased as a servicable rifle . Thought about resetting the head space ,cut, thread, ream, got to expensive and the man didn't want the job also didn't want to "wildcat" the rifle so it could be shot safely .

I"ve done it. I've got a yugo that i've reamed out to 8 06. Not my favorite round but brass is easy to come up with, necks up east and at least up to a 185 rem coreloc it fit's in the mag.Mine at least is partial to the 170 grain speer spz. Just keep in mind that ALL your ammo is going to be a hand loading deal. I rented the reamer and gauges from elk ridge and did the work my self.

The only thing you gotta watch is the fact that "yugos" are very slightly shorter action than a "regular" length model 98. If it was me,I'd rebarrel it to .35 whelen for the fact that I just like that caliber bullet better than .323 bullets.
1 of the companies recently came out with 1st legimitized factory cartridges for 8mm-06,however .35 whelen has been legitimized forquite a while.

Well I rather enjoy hand loading so thats not an issue . I have a 32 rem. Ive been going to buy moulds for so that is one more reason for "new toys". If I bbl it I'd go to a 257 roberts or a another short action or Mauserlenghthcartrige . I just wanted to have a shooter out of it .

with the shortage of surplus 8mm mauser ammo, Id just ream it out into a 8mm/06 and call it good. might even be worth sporterizing the gun those mausers make a nice deer gun.
