Default New Toy - Again

I went to Cabela's yesterday as a passenger (wasn't going to spend any money), and I end up seeing a Tikka T3 Varmint in 223 that I just thought was too good of a deal to pass up...........

I touched it and gave it back an walked away, then my buddy bad influenced me and told me to go touch it one more time......Long story short, don't touch a gun, they have a tendency to follow you home.

Now I have a dilema, I don't feel like spending any more money at the moment and I have a brand new rifle without a scope. I'm trying to figure out what gun to steal a scope off of for a while so I can play with the new toy.

Browning A-Bolt 7mag - Leupold VX II 3-9x40
Thompson Encore - Nikon 4.5-14x40

What I am thinking is taking the Nikon off my Thompson and putting it on the Tikka for some more magnification (pdoggin trip is coming up), and putting the VX-II on my Thompson and then later on this summer or early fall buying a new set of optics with more magnification for my 7mag. Whatcha guys think of that plan?

Think you got a good rifle. If it shoots as good as my T-3 varmit in 308 you will be very satisfied. My buddie just laid away one in 223 last week, hope he gets it very soon so I can try it out.
Wished they would get more calibers in the varmit here in the states I been really wanting one in 260.
Congradulations.Let us know how it shoots.Did you get the blue or the ss?

When is the next season for each of the other scopes. I'd steal from the
latest season gun. I've always heard about boats, "...two happiest days...". Never heard that about guns. Good luck with the gun and the Pdogs. Went to Kadoka years ago for Pdog hunt, haven't been back since, but sure want to. Bang pop!

Thanks guys. I got the blued gun.

The 7mag might not see any use this fall unless I draw an elk tag. I'm going to use my Encore this year, but I will have the 7mag scoped an ready just in case I need it for a backup gun.

I would have had the Tikka all set up an posted up some pictures of its first groups today but I decided to go walleye fishing instead. Tomorrow the wind is supposed to blow up to 40mph, so I doubt I'll get to shoot any tomorrow. I will get a few hundred bullets loaded up for when the wind dies down.

Soun ds like the way to go. I bet I saw your place yesterday. We were coming back from Watertown and the road was closed at Doland so we went north to 12.

Yeah you went right past my house then. Where the cafe is about 11 miles north of doland, my house is across the street. Probably a few pieces of Case Equipment sitting in my driveway.

Well, I gave the Tikka a rough site in job on an old manure spreader sitting out in our weeds (mosquitos will about carry a fullgrown man away here). I busted 2 jackrabbits and a coon with it yesterday evening. I have 40rds loaded up for load development. Can't wait to get to try it out on paper an get it all dialed in dead nuts. I think its gonna be a shooter! [8D]
