Default Ruger #1 in 25-06 rem

I've been thinking about trading off my A-Bolt 25-06 and getting a Ruger No. 1 B Grade.I always hear great stuff about the rifle and I really like the round. Any input?

I own the sister of the rifle you are considering. About 20 years ago I swapped a .223 on that #1 in 25/06. At first I thought it might be a mistake. I soon found out it was incredibly accurate and able to handle my varmint to deer needs. My only complaint is the poor trigger setup. I really like the balance of a #1. Amazingly, using a single shot has never been a handicap. It drops deer like they were hit with a poleaxe. With todays bullets, the 25/06 is a very capable caliber.

If you experience accuracy issues, there is a gadget that will probably help. I think they call it a Harris Accurizer. Brownells used to sell them.

I was thinking almost the same only I kinda like the #1 A Light Sporter in .243. I've also got a 25/06 bolt that is deadly on deer so a I B Standard in that is also doable. Ah, just not enough excess coin to fund all the "wants". Good luck in your choice.

We have one with a composite stock and stainless steel barrel. It will put 3 shots on top of each other at 100 yards.

That's just the one I've been looking at. Stainless Standard w/26" bbl. I shoot Hornady 117gr SST bullets with 52gr of H4831 and I get a lot of muzzle flash. I think the extra bbl length will improve velocity and accuracy.

#1's are fantastci rifles. Have three currently with another coming soon and likely another later this yr. I've passed on .25-06 becuase it's not a cartridge I need to fill in any gaps but it's certainly a very well rounded cartridge. I've not had any accuracy issues with mine. All shoot great! If it's a good price, grab it!
