Default Remington 710 & 700

I have been reading this forum for a few weeks and i kinda wanted a "project gun" so i decided to go with a cheaper gun that was decently accurate so i decided to go with the 710. I have found that with a good scope the only thing really wrong with the gun is the bolt and a few plastic parts.

SO i brought my 710 to a gun smith friend of mine and he did a few things to it telling me he smoothed out the bolt and replaced 2 plastic parts in it. I usually tend not to ask questions, kinda gets pointless cause he knows alot more than me.

Anyway the bolt is smoother but nothing like most other guns.

Well my question is to all who know is how many 700 30-06 rifle parts match up to the 710 30-06. Im really only interested in the stock cause i hate the grey. i have considered painted it and would rather not mess it up but can not find any aftermarket parts to the gun.

Does anyone know where can get any parts for my 710 or if any other guns will match up to it.

Please let me know and thank you.

Dave

Do yourself a favor and look up other posts about the rem 710. I honestly don't believe you will be satisfied with it for very long.
Sell it and get a real rifle that you can use your whole life and hand down.

Not to Burst your Bubble...

I think that the model 710 maybe the worst gun in produced right now. Yes, it shoots and is safe.. but quality wise.. not good at all. Very ruff for a production gun, and for a 100 to 125 more.. you could have gotten a Quality Savage. Not saying that's the best.. but it's Quality at a cheaper price (gun and scope for approx. $475).
Hey, look at it this way... if you bought it and you like it... then it's fine, and that's what matters. But if your looking for a gun that will take you to the woods and back year after year... then the 710 not going to be it.

MY 2 cents... but i'm not always right
Have a Great Holiday and New Years to ALL !!

There's a lot of nice finishes you can put on that stock. I prefer wrinkle finish with airbrushed on camo. Tough as nails and looks great.Below:

However, like everyone here says, you most likelywon't be satisfied with that 710 for long and any money you put into itwill probably be regretted later. 710's truely are garbage and it's amazing that Remington allows it out the door.

I have a 710. I seriously can't wait to replace it with most likely a new Savage.

If you want a cheap project gun you need to go with Savage.
The Accutrigger alone is worth the petty difference in cost.
Every company that makes stocks makes em for the 110
Just about every company that makes barrels makes em for the 110

With alittle patience and the proper toolsyou can do it all yourself.
A simple task for any gunsmith otherwise.
