Default Remington 7400

I'm thinking about buying a Remington .270 model 7400. Any of you have any experience with a model 7400 as far as accuracy and reliability?

Had a few. I like them. I have used the same one for deer hunter for 15 years. So it has alot of sentimental value, and functions perfectly. But if I was to start over, I would have considered the BAR. They seem more tolerant on different loads and you don't seem to have to be so careful on cleaning them.

I hunt with a deer club and we do mostly deer drives. So the gun of choice needs to be fast handling and easy to get a quick second shot if needed. Over 75% of the guys in the club shoot model 7400's and have taken many deer. Ive seen several long range shots with them too. I am waiting for Remington to introduce one of the ultra mag shorts in the 7400 then i will definetly buy one, unless i can find an older one chambered in .35 whelen.

My rifle came in today. It's a beauty! Remington 7400 in .270 cal. Got it cleaned and scoped and will zero it in tomorrow morning weather permitting. Thanks to those who replied.

As long as you keep the gas system cleaned and maintained it should be give you good service. A fouled gas system is what has given this rifle a bad rep amoung some hunters.

"Lord, make me fast and accurate."
