Default .270 Win TC Encore likeable bullets

Have been trying to zero a TC Encore .270 Win. with Remington Core Lokt 150 grain bullets. At 100 yds am only getting a 3" group. Have been cleaning bore every 5 shots with Tetra Bore Cleaner. Have had other .270's that liked this ammo. But this one (a bull barrel) does not seem to. Have a TC Encore in .308 that shoots 1/2 groups at same range. Does anyone know of a good factory ammo that shoots good in the TC .270 barrels? It is not the shooter. Been pusing rounds downrange since I was 10 with the coaching of a WWII Infantry platoon Sergeant (My Dad). And spent 29 pushing rounds downrange for Uncle myself. What has happened to Win. Super X. Can't find any in .270 from factory! Would like a good 150 grain bullet. But don't want to pay big bucks for something that won't shoot. Does anyone have any input? Am shooting 150 grain Super X's through the .308.

Well in my 270, the Federal Fusions shoot very well. They come in 130 and 150. I always prefer the 130 in the 270 except for Elk or Moose. The SD of the 130 270 puts it in the same ballpark as the 165 grain 30 caliber bullet. Simply put the 130 277 bullet can be expected to penetrate like the 165 in 30 calibers. The Fusions performance was beyond belief last fall when I took nine mulies with nine shots. None of them went more than 25 yards. Most dropped in their tracks. They are not expensive either. Give them a try.

Was going to try out the Federal Vital Shock 150 grain Nosler Partian but instead will go with the Federal Fusions instead. Will let you know by next week how they work out. Thanks for you input!

Just a thought, check the forend screws on your Encore. I have a 26" 25-06 that shoots the same way if the screws are too tight, drove me crazy untill I figured out what the problem was.I couldn't get under 3" groups at all,now it's a tack driver and took a woodchuck at 503 yards...

An oversized hinge pin may help tighten up your groups. I've read a few posts of Encore owners frustrated by the groups they were shooting. In one post the guys groups went from 3" to 1", 1.25" just by changing to an oversized hinge pin. Mike Bellm has a website, they also sell them on eBay. There are 2 sizes, 1X and 2X. They are around $10-$15 a piece or you can buy the 2 pack a little cheaper. It's worth a try.Good luck.

My dad got a T/C encore muzzle loaderlast year and we couldn't get it to group better than 5". We started looking at the gun itself and noticed the forstock and the but stock were loose from the gun. He took it back and the store warrantied/damaged itoutand he went witha omega. Started tack driving immediatley. Check to see if the butt stock is loose. My dad's was bad...or at least I thought it was bad. I wouldn't think that it was the problem but I can't see it helping.

Well, I bought the gun for my little brother last year and he had not zeroed it yet. So I told him to bring it too me and I would. It would not zero on the Core Lokt. So I told him to get me some different ammunition. Both him and his wife balked and said that $20 or $30 dollars a box was too much to pay for ammunition and they were not going to buy any. Yeah! So I am going to give it a good cleaning and hand it back to him and say, "heres your club!"

Parry left, verticle buttstroke, and long thrust, ho! If he don't want for it to shoot he will have to mount a bayonet on it! Hooah!

Try some Winchester 140 gr Accubonds. My son has an Encore with a Custom Shop 270 heavy barrel that really like the Accubonds. I am not a fan of Core Loks or Win Super X ammo, but the Win Supremes have performed great for me in my 300 WSM's and my son's 270.

Well I finally went and bought some .270 Win. Super X Power Points and zeroed the Encore. Shoots deadcenter at 20 yds, deadcenter at 50, 2" high at 100, and dead on the money at 200 yds. That made a total of about 80 rounds that had been put down the new barrel. Cleaned it out with Tetra Bore Cleaner about every 6th shot. Then noticed that I had to foul the barrel with 2 rounds before it was on the money again. Only had to make a few adjustments to the scope to dial the Super X's in. So thanks for all of the help from all who gave me the good advice! Now he won't have to buy a bayonet and try to poke a "Whitetail".
