I use a Bushnell Banner, 1.5 x 4.5 on my Marlin 336, .30-.30 and it has worked well and held up well. I also used it on a enfield for a while as well. I purchased it 2002, so newer, but not real new. It is not the greatest quality for brightness or clarity, but sufficent for me and its purpose.

I have had about 20 Banner scopes. Only one was LESS than perfect. On the one that didn't seem to work as well, the rifle was also suspect.

Bushnell Banner 6-18x 50mm on a 7mm Rem Mag. Nice!!

I think after letting my father-in-law shoot it today, he is going to get one for his 30-06. Can be found at Wal-Mart for about $130.

I have a 6x18x50 on my .243, I am not reall happy with it, it fogs in clod wet weather, and its not very clear when set on 14-18 power.
I,m not so sure its doing it job, last year it would hold a 1" group at 200 yds and then all of a sudden it moved poi. I need to go back to the range and try a few things, it might have been me, or it might be the scope.

My dad had had one on his 30-30 since 1949 and it has never caused any problems. It has been dropped down the side of a mountain and picked up and still hit where it was aimed. Once it was sighted in originally it has never been adjusted.

IMO, the older Bushnell Banner's weren't too bad... kind of like Simmons Aetec's. I have a 3-9 that's o.k. (for under 200) yds. but not clear for really long range work. The new ones I've seen were pretty crappy. Much better choices out there.

I found 22 used Bushnell's in a five gallon bucketat a gun show. I asked how much and the guy said it was his garbage pale and would pay me $2.00 to take it out to the dumpster.

Optics on the Banner are not what I consider very good. It's the only scope I keep as a spare/emergency use-only. I love all the eye-relief on it (5.5").... but the rest is so-so.

Buy either the Nikon Prostaff 2-7X32 (very clear)for $112 or the Sightron SI (lots of turret space for front/back sliding --- also no need to change the focussetting at the range when going anywhere from #3 to #9 strength)for $114. You can get them here below.
