Default AR-15 ?

Ok i have owned 3 in the past and just ordered my new one. I have one ? tho. What is the Diff betweenthe regular AR-15 and the AR-15 Carbine? is there a diff. Is it just a name thing or what?

a "carbine" model of any gun will have a shorter barrel.

The carbine will have a 16" barrel and considerably shorter handguards. Even though the barrel is only 4" shorter than a 20" rifle, the handguards are almost 6" shorter. The shorter sight radius is of course quicker for short range shots, but a distinct disadvantage for longer range. Some carbines will have a collapsible (CAR) buttstock as well.

ok cool. the gunsmith keep sayin my carbine would be in and i was looking online and saw there where 2 diff versions of the gun i had ordered. I thought one was made of diff metals or cast instead of forged. Thanks fellas.

In most cases the barrel will have a different contour or profile under the forearm and in front of the forearm. Most carbines I have seen have them4 barrel. Here are some pics from Bushmaster with different types.
