RE: BEST .22 CAL PISTOL
I am a big fan of the Ruger 22/45 and the Mark I 22 both with target barrels. I thought I would never want another .22 pistol. Then I shot my firends Ruger Single Six. Man it is a sweet piece. Attractive, balanced, handy and accurate as the day is long. I scored on pop cans with the single six quite well. ; about twice as good as with my 22/45.
The sig trailside is also a great pistol. It is based on the Hammerelli action of olympic cometition fame.
The Smith and Wesson K22 is a great .22 revolver but expensive.
the Smith and Wesson model 41 is probably the finest semi auto .22 but also expensive
And don't forget the High standard Citation.
Basicly most modern .22 psitols and revolvers are good. Find one that fits your hand and you budget.

I know what I am about to suggest will rufle some feathers but a Taurus PT-22 is a fun little gun that you could slip in your shirt pocket. I've taken squirrels at 20 yards with no problems. DA only with a bit of a stiff trigger and fixed sights but like I said, lots of fun.

I'm a big fan of the ruger single six. I have the one that lets me change cylinders from a 22lr to a 22wmr. It's a blast to shoot fits my hand well and is very accurate. Heres a pic.

My best shooting pistol would be my ruger mark 2-also with its 10+inch bull barrel shoots as good as my 22 rifles. But a bit long to carry around sometimesyep.
mosttimes i just borrow the mates pt-22 insteador the 94- not as accurate but easyier to carry around.

You want go wrong with the Ruger the Browning or the Smith &Wesson mod.41. I have the Ruger and I've shot the Browning and the S&W ,and can tell you the're all super accurate and very reliable! The Sig and the Walter are probably outstanding also, though I have no experience with them. The smith mod 41 is a very pricey pistol and I think smith makes a more economical version although I don't recall what the model # is.
