Whats the deal w/ centerfire pumps?

I was just wondering if a pump action deer rifle is necessary.....is this a good idea to have as a deer rifle? What are the advantages and disavantages to pump action deer rifles?

I see no problem with them quick handling fast follow up shots better accuracy then autos just a good quick gun imo. I like bolts but would like a pump for deer drives

Many feel the pumps are less accurate than the bolts, but I have seen 2 7600s shoot approx an inch group. One was a short barreled carbine and those two were the only ones I have actually seen at the range. The remington 7600 trigger is not very good however when compared to most center fire triggers. I am going to pick one up just because I have an 870 pump and feelI could handle the 7600 quicker.

They are excellent rifles and the triggers seem pretty shootable to me. I have had four of them. They all shot as good as most bolt guns.
