Does anyone own this weapon? I haven't been able to find many reviews. It's at the top of my list right now for a home/small business defense revolver but I'd like to get some second opinions.
Right up front - I am not a hand gun person. I love to shoot my 3 1/2 12 gauge and a .338 magnum though. If this 520 S&W is a little bigger than my brother-in-laws 500 S&W I have to say a couple of things. I wouldn't even shoot the darn thing at the range. Why for defense? The gun is too large to hide under a coat. There is too much recoil for a quick, accuratesecond shot. OK, you don't need a second shot if you hit the bad guy the first time, but what if he has a buddy? I know there are better choices for a defense weapon. Jim
I don't own a S/W 520 but I have shot one. The S/W 520 is a medium frame .357, 7 round, with a 4" barrel. It's a good shooter. As for the .500mag I've carred mine concealed with no problem. However if you plan on carring your firearm concealed you might want to look into an auto.
i have a 686 6" which is a medium frame 357/38 in SS, mine is 7 round you can get it in 6 also... and with a 4 inch barrel. as far as accuracy.. i've shot 3 different 686's including mine and I don't have a bad thing to say about them... I have never played with a 520 but it is a K frame and is a medium frame so essentially the same as the 686 and the 686 is a quality firearm from all aspects...

[&:] I told you I wasn't a handgun person - oops! After going to the S&W website, it looks like your 520 would do what you want. Sorry. Just a note about my brother-in-laws 500 Magnum. He bagged three deer in Iowa's first gun season this last weekend with his S&W. Jim
