odds are a bow press is your best bet, most X bows have a LOT of pull to them, tring to do without it, real easy to go OOP"S and be in trouble
a local bow shop can install it for you real easy and fast! and SAFE!
HOW DID the string come off??
if it broke, you could have damaged limbs!

You can get a crossbow bowstringer. I got mine from Excalibur along with an extra string after I got my Ibex. You may also be able to pick one up on Ebay.
All you do is put the stringer on the limbs, cock the bow using the stringer which puts slack on the string. Remove the old string and reinstall the new one (through the stinger holes) and slowly uncock the bow being sure the new string is in the retaining groves on the limb tips.

Savage 99, You should get a stringer for your own use. That way you can carry an extra string on trips (even if to the back lot) and use the stringer to get you back on the hunt that night/morning. I don't think they are that expensive, I've forgotten.
