Default Broadhead

I've shot Muzzy broadheads out of my compound for the last 25 years, most recently 3-blade 100 gr. Next year I switch to an Excalibur Equinox, and planned to shoot the same 3-blade Muzzy. Should I anticipate any problems or does anyone recommend another broadhead? I have never shot a crossbow, and my Excalibur is in a box in my living room awaiting assembly.

Will my compound target suffice, or do I need to buy a special target? Thanks for any help.

Mine perform best with arrows that have high FOC, small vanes and four-bladed low profile (short) fixed blades or mechanicasl that don't open in flight i.e. Lazer II shafts with 110 gr brass insert, 2" Blazers, or 2 or 3'' Fusion, aluminum nocks and tipped with 100 gr Slick Trick mags or Spitfires. Results in 405 gr arrow with 18.5% FOC that flies like a dart and has great terminal performance.

X2 - I used the Meat Seeker mechanicals this year for the first time. Talk about davastation! This BH really surprised me. I will use again.

Thanks for the replies. I finally watched some Excalibur video and they claim 100 grain fixed blades don't fly too well due to the speed of the bolt. I will be shopping for mechanicals.

I shoot Slick Trick XBow Broadheads (175grain) out of my Parker Buck Buster 175. They give you plenty of FOC and fly right with the 175gr field tips that comes with the head. They cut slug holes in deer. Shot several deer 2 seasons ago 2 deer with Trophy Ridge mechanical heads and 1 with a 2 blade Rage. May have been a fluke but both of the trophy ridge heads broke the tip off and only had 1 blade left and the rage had a bent ferrule and only 1 blade left. I shot 3 deer last archery season with the same slick trick and my first 2 of 4 deer taken this archery season before losing the arrow. Don't trust mechanicals. Just my opinion.

I've shot RAGE 2 & 3 blade, Grim Reaper and I always come back to my Muzzy 3 blade. They fly great out of my old Excal but I'm only shooting 270 FPS
