Question backstops for crossbows

I just recieved my new Barnett Quad hunter crossbow but my target didn't come in with the shipment. Is there any way I can still target shoot without it? Would I ruin my cross-bolts by shooting into an embankment? lonestranger_48

Using a small sack, fill it tight with old clothes> Presto instant field tip target. Shooting into a bank could ruin the arrow if you, say, hit a rock.

Only accurate guns- and bows - are interesting.
