Question Jaguar CB questions...

Howdy! Has anybody had any experiences with the Jaguar 175 CB that is sold in the Sportsman's Guide catalog??? The price looks good, but....

I'm also wondering since it has a 16" power stroke and comes with 16" bolts, can 22" bolts be used also?

Any comments/advice will be appreciated!

just my opinion but these type crossbows are all over ebay. you could probably find simlar even cheaper. to be able to shoot something like a 20 inch arrow you would have to check with the manufacturer but it probably wont have lots of speed. if it were me i would pay a little more and look for a better bow from a known good manufacturer rather than an imported cheapo. maybe look at a horton or pse copperhead. http://www.crossbowpackages.com/pse/...rhead-crossbow

Default Don't do it!

Decided I wanted to try crossbows without shelling out what I consider to be a great deal of money. I bought one from Sportmans Guide. First one I got seemed pretty dang fast and was pretty accurate.(robin hooded 2 bolts from 30 yds when sighting in) Problem was one day setting in tree stand with bow locked and loaded I noticed some splinters along limb. Called Guide and they said send it in and they would replace it so I did. Replacement did not seem nearly as fast, as bolt seemed to drop considerably further than it did with 1st one. So I did what any curious hunter should do. I bought a chrono to verify fps. Just what I figured, it was 238 with included bolts and only about 223 with 20" carbon bolts I bought. So I called guide and complained and they said send it back for replacement or refund. I chose replacement to give it another try. New one(3rd replacement) shot exact same as 2nd one. I did not want to be a pain so I decided to not complain and just keep it since it obviously did not cost a fortune. But after less than 9 months of target shooting I noticed splinters in limb again. Called the guide and told them they were selling junk cause it don't shoot what they advertise and it don't even last a year. They offered to refund price but not shipping since original order date was over a year. So I took them up on it. They have GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE although I see they still advertise them at 300 fps. I also noticed that now canadacrossbow.com is listing theirs at 240 fps which is more realistic. I know this is long but I don't want to say something is junk without giving explaination of why.

Yep, and I don't want to see anyone else make the same mistake. That is why I took the time to post.

I bought a jaguar and for a cheap xbow it shoots pretty good. Actually took a doe with mine in OK during october.

No, it won't shot 300 fps, but it will kill deer at whatever speed it is shooting. I bought it just to see if I would even like xbow hunting and I did, so I am upgrading to a better bow next year.
