looking for me and my dad's 1st crossbow

I started off on a search for a crossbow for my dad but the more I read about them I decided I wanted one too.

After looking on line and reading on just about every crossbow and shooting about 7-8 different ones I still not sure which one to get.

I've always shot compounds bows but have decided to try something else.

Everything I have shot was in the 600-800 dollar range. They all seemed about the same to me. Parker - Tenpoint - Excal. other than when they were compound vs recurve.

Thats the price range I'm trying to stay in. Also looking for my dad who is 77 years old. He is on the fence so I do not want to spend a bunch on one for him but I also want it to be safe.

Looking forward to getting my first crossbow, just have to decide which one first!


Found a Eastman Outfitters X-Force 500 Crossbow Package for 350 bucks new.

Anyone know much about these? Might be a good one for my dad.


The Tornado looks and feels good. Wondering if the extra 100 for the Cyclone might be the way to go.

Tenpoint seems to have the best built in drawing system, based on what people say that have owned a few types.

My dad has a Ten Point Titan HLX with the Acudraw system and he loves it. I actually used it quite a bit this year and it is a great bow especially with the ****ing aid builit into the bow. In my oponion it is the best ****ing aid on the market. My brother owns a Barnett and personally I would stay away from the less expensive bows, there is a noticable quaility difference between the two bows. There are several Excal's that will fit your budget as well, they are very accurate and smooth shooting, however, do not have ADF trigger system. I personally would buy either a Ten Point or Excal both are quality companies.

I just got back from the ATA show and you now have another 50 or so to choose from. Darton has had only 2 to choose from now 3 and the last, the Serpent is very quiet. More so than most of the others I tried and still in that price range. Carbon Tec came into the bow world with a few and look sharp but.....I have and shot the Eastman, I think 3 models to choose from and the 500 is under 500 for the complete package: bow, quiver, case, arrows, tips, 4Xscope and ****ing rope. Looking to spend less, try the 300 Eastman same package but with a red dot scope only $344.00 TYD The Parker Cyclone gets my vote, and runner up is the Tornado, both are in your price range if you can find one of the 09's. The limbs have been changed, stiffer I believe. I reallly like the retractable stock, it fits everyone. PM if you want any info on any others.

I can second that. The acu-draw is awesome for people with weak shoulders or back trouble which limits their ability to draw.

I have the ten point titan also,great bow.Best bow for the money I think. Paid 500 without acudraw. I pull back by hand though or use excaliber rope.
