Dispatcher: Hunter Shot, Killed by Game Warden in Wilkes County
Staff Writer
April 11, 2009

WILKES COUNTY, N.C. - A hunter was reportedly shot and killed on the opening day of Turkey Season by a state game warden early Saturday morning in Wilkes County.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. off Cane Creek Church Road in the McGrady community, about ten miles from North Wilkesboro, according to wildlife dispatchers.

The hunter's identity has not yet been released. The officer involved was Mark Minton, a veteran Wildlife Resources officer.

State Bureau of Investigation agents are now handling the case, which is typical with any officer involved shooting.

The last i heard it wasbeing treatedas justified because the GW allegedly caught the guy illegally hunting and then acted in a threatening manner toward the GW.

Here's the story I watched of his daughter.

They make you live through a 15 second Applebee's commercial first before letting you view the story.

Sorry to hear that someone was killed (not murdered), during a "hunting" event. I have GW friends who admit that a "camo'd" hunter's body language is hard to read and making an instantaneous "best guess" can be tough. Even killing "bad guys" casts a dark shadow on our sport.

However:

If we have a "tourist season" why can't we hunt THEM??????
