GRASMERE, B.C. - A man is being treated in hospital after shooting himself in the head with a crossbow in the southeastern B.C. community of Grasmere.


The RCMP say the incident happened early Wednesday at the home of the 19-year-old victim during a house party in the town near Fernie, B.C.


Witnesses say the arrow was fired accidentally by the man himself.


Police say the victim was flown to a hospital in Calgary to have the arrow removed but his condition is not known.


They say the crossbow was seized and they believe liquor was a factor in the incident.

As I medic I was involved in trying to save a soldier who tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the heart.....with a rifle. He got his wish, after spending hours on a field hospital operating table. Seems to me there might have been a better plan option.

A guy at my gun club who had Lymme desease real bad shot himself thru the heart with the ram rod of his ML. His family would have received no insurance if he committed suicide and no one could argue that it was an accident.

I do think if I was gonna off myself it wouldn't be with the Xbow. OUCH!!!
