Default Newbie, sort of

Shattered my shoulder in a motorcycle accident on May 31st of this year. Still only have about 30 to 40% use of my arm. Got my Iowa papers signed by the doc and will be shooting a Horton Summit 150 HD this fall. My friend did the preliminary sight in as I could not hold the bow yet.By the way the elevation controls were bacfkwards on the red dot but thanks to earlier reads on this forum discovered it right away. Shoots very well. I have a string cocker that I plan to put a neck strap on to help withif I still do not have the power to cock it in October. This forum has been a wealth of info and I thank you all. I had a Whamo 80 lber as a kid and took to Ca. when I was in the service, it whacked a lot of jacks with cut down heavy cedar shafts with .38 special cases as blunt tips. This new bow is way better. Have not settled on a broad head yet but am reading all I can get my hands on. Glad to be on board with such a dedicated group of hunters.

Her in Iowa we are blessed with an abundance of the greatest game animal in the world. I have hunted them with bow, handgun, shotgun, muzzle loader, rifle and now the xbow. We can shoot does as long as county tags last and can hunt several differant seasons from Sept youth seasons clear into the end of January. My son and I have hunted together since he was 12 (now 25) and he is my best friend because of it. The xbow has me pumped, too bad it is for disabled hunters only. Not sure how long it will last for me, doc says I will be 100% in a year or so, right now I am sceptical. Still worried about my shotgun and rifle seasons. Here is a pic of my best. 192 1/8

Hey Bree,
Sorry to hear about the shoulder. With me it is just an old body falling apart through years of fighting with bad guys. Both of my shoulders are shot, but they are at least serviceable enough to do what I love best. Actually the recovery time is not that bad. The rehab will be a little painful, but worth it in the long run.

This year I am getting involved in xbows. I picked up a Ten Point GT-Curve. I am just getting started likeyou with this fine piece of back strap collecting machinery. I waited for our local sportsman expo to view and handle a lot of different xbows. I got to shoot a few also. I fell in love with the GT-Curve. The factory rep with Ten Point, Barb Terry, was a great help and put my interests first in making a decision.

Hope all goes well with the shoulder and getting back on track, but hang in there - it only gets better.
