Just shot a Phoenix yesterday. Very accurate, easy to maintain. Sweeet trigger.
Have owned Terminator and own a Cyclone, both by Parker. Terminator was one bow up from Buckbuster. If he likes to fiddle with stuff, the compound is OK If he just wants to shoot/hunt go with the Excalibur. Think I'll be getting the Phoenix just for "fun shooting".

Only accurate guns- and bows - are interesting.

I shoot mostly Excalibur xbows, I have 10 of them including a sweet shooting Pheonix. Great hunting and target xbow.

You already gave him good advice. Tell him he's buying a xbow, not getting married and go have a beer, lol. Have one for me while you are at it!

The Phoenix is just about as perfect as it gets in my eyes. It's light and fast enough. Probably the biggest difference is that with the Phoenix he'll be able to shoot tons of shots with little to no maintenace.
