Default Excal Owners Input

How many of you have now or had the carved tip limb models, did you think it was smooth shooting.comparing them to the newer forward riser CB's i want to hear what your opinion is. I have bothand the forward riser has abit of shock to it. i don't think the limbs are the cause but the riser.

As I mentioned on the phone today Mike. I do believe that the bows without the forward limbs are "nicer". They are easier to draw back and for sure smoother shooting. It's hard to beat my carved tipped Exocet for speed, quiet, low shock, and draw characteristics. When comparing to the newer bows you gain speed at a cost of "character" which isn't a truly bad thing just different. Maybe I should look for a flat riser for my Y25 but then it wouldn't be a Y25 anymore.

My Exocet is the best crossbow I have ever owned. I shot a 10 point, Hortonand the Exocet when I was deciding what I wanted to purchase. The Exocet beat the others hands down.

There is a price to pay for speed, especially on recurves :-)

Yeah, you're right there, Moon. My Emax ate servings til I got Boo's strings, but was still a bear to cock and blew through deer like they weren't there. The Ecet is somewhat better, but still alot of bow. I ordered a Phoenix which the rail is labeled and just found out this spring it's actually an Ecet. Like it too much to go down a notch now, but asm willing to bet the Phoenix is perfect. Shot Mikes some and really liked the cocking ease of it. What I really like about the Excals is I can just literally throw them in the bed of the truck and go hunting. I for one don't mind the limb width and have not had a problem w/ them and ground blinds, but you do have to keep an eye on limb clearance. Everywhere, lol.
