Default Pin Sights for Crossbows

Hey Guys,

Once again, I have just one more question. In Washington State their crossbow program does not allow for Scope or for Red Dot sights like most Crossbows come with. This rule does not make any sense but nevertheless it is the law at this point. I have only really seen a single pin sight for CB's. Do they make a multi Pin sight for CB's? Also in most of these posting that I read I notice that people do not take very long shots with these CB'S. Is there a reason for this? Beings how the crossbows are more accurate and considered an advantage over compounds shouldnt they be accurate out to 60 to 70 yards? My Father is not that mobile so accurate longer shots are important for a clean kill. Is this not the case with CB?

Any Input is greatly appreciated.

"considered more accurate"

I think it's a mistake to consider crossbows more accurate, in general, than vertical compound bows with all the fiber optic pins, fall away arrow rests, stabilizers, levels, etc. Sure, I can hit a deer everytime at 70 yards with any crossbow I have......................I could do the same thing with my Bowtech Allegiance compound. I don't recommend anyone go out and take shots at deer at 70 yards with a crossbow or vertical bow unless they are darn sure where the arrow is going to go. I think 40 yards should be the longest shots taken with either under most situations. Shooting at a rubber target at 70 yards is substantially different than shooting at a nice buck.

Hello Moonkryket,

Thanks for the response.....I realize that longer shots are not desirable nor are they leaning towards ethical. I have been bowhunting for 20 years. My fathers disability has limited his agility. He now qualifies to use a Crossbow in the State of Washington. Someone from the department of fish and wildlife must think that a crossbow is more accurate and an advantage to hunt with otherwise they would not be so strict on the ability to use one. This is a first for us and I am trying to figure out what the advantage is beings how they will not even let you use a scope or red dot sight. My only other thought would be that they are more accurate at longer ranges??

B-net should have a multi pin rail for that CB, try a customer service number in the owners manual would be wear I start. Most guys put scopes on the CB mainly for the money savings. Being a compound guy, you know how much a good set of fiber optic pins go for, and then the ones that provide additional light are even more pricey. A good red dot scope can be picked up for fifty bucks. Sometimes I still think about putting a lighted fiber optic sight pin on my CB and a rear V notch style sight, then the sunset would not be a issue in a dark woods when there is still legal shooting time left.
