Got a chance to see the new Crossman crossbows this weekend. I wandered over to the booth and the guy who basicly designed the bow looks at my name tag and says "Hey...YOUR the one who does all those posts on the forums!" (obviously I am on here WAY too much

) Anyway, I got a chance to check this out. The one they had there was a prototype and they did not have one to shoot, so that review will come later. This went from an idea to a working model in a matter of weeks, and it looks to be a decent inexpensive bow. It is a tad blocky at the front (the initial photos gave that impression) and it is very similar to the Parker Buck Buster in that the stock and rail is all composit and the rizer bolts on from the front with 2 small allen bolts holding the top rail to the riser. The trigger was a quick prototype and the production model is supposed to be a high density polymer (If I get some of these details wrong I am sorry...I was fighting a migraine at the time and some of this is a bit of a blur). The stock gets much less blocky the further back you go and the prototype was very heavy, but the production models will be lighter. The forstock is comfortable, but too far forward for my taste as I shoot offhand. If you hold far forward it is in a good position, but it does not allow you to come far enough back on the stock to brace your elbow on your ribcage. Depending on the model it comes with either a triple red dot or a multi line illuminated scope. IMO, these need to be worked on. The red dot (red or green by the way) is VERY small and the field of view is very restricted. The scope is not that bad, but at high intensity has a very pronounced halo effect. Price point is in the $400-500ish range, so it is comparative to other bows in its performance range. One of the factors that may make it a good shooter is the density of the stock. It should absorb quite a bit of vibration. I have one on order and they should be out in a month or so, so when I get it in I will do a shooting review...Initial impression is that I am interested enough to want to play with it abit. May be a nice option for long armed shooters looking for an inexpensive bow.
