Default Wyoming changes CB regs!!!

Well here are the facts copied and pasted right from the 2008 Wyoming resident hunt regulations:

The crossbow hunter must be equipped with a
crossbow of not less than 90 pounds draw weight which has a minimum
draw length of 14 inches from front of bow to back of string in the cocked
position and a positive safety mechanism. Crossbow bolts must be at least
16 inches long. The broadhead of arrows or bolts shall be of sharp steel
with a minimum cutting width of one inch.

A permit Is No longer required to be able to use a leverage
gaining device for cocking a crossbow.

Can YOU say RIGHT ON!!!!!

And another step for mankind!
Do you need a permit to use a crossbow or can anyone use it during archery season?

I have to admit, I'm amazed they changed the law. They had public forums across the state and I went to 2 of them. At each meeting the same 5 people showed up to argue for crossbows while the archery clubs showed up in force to argue against. At one meeting they even showed up with a Pope and Young person from Minnesota and archery club officers of some sort from Colorado and Montana.

They then had a public comment period where people could send in written comments. In the past, the comment periods usually don't amount to much. This time it must have, or there was a lot more crossbow support at the forums in the western part of the state. Regardless, I'm thrilled. Now I can hunt with my Dad during the archery season. Now if we could just get the surrounding states to follow suit.

Dnk, all you have to have is your permit to hunt whatever species and an archery license. Then you can use a crossbow during the entire archery season.

Now all those youngsters and women and aging hunters can be out there, too.
Way to go!!!!!!!!!
I've never understood why so many of the anti - (crossbow, inline muzzleloader, etc.)crowd would rather have people out hunting without the ability to choose the method that allows them the best chance of success. I'd much rather see a hunter be able to make a good shot than be out there just flinging arrows (or bullets) at anything that moves in hopes of eventually connecting.
Lets face it - if you can't shoot accurately, you'd be better off staying home............... hmmmmmmmmmm............ could that be it?
I can shoot my longbow accurately enough to kill a deer, so let's make everything else illegal, and I'll be the only one hunting! [:-]

I have said it before, and I still believe it, we are seeing the change sweep the region. In a few years, maybe more we will have conversations of " remember when the CB wasnot allowed..." It is great to witness this as it is done.

Congrats to WY!!!

Considering it took years to get Wisconsin to ok dove hunting, unfortunately it will be a long time before we will follow Wyoming's common sense.

yeah, but the only thing that kind of sucks about wisconsin and crossbows is that you have to have a disability permit to hunt with one, which really doesnt take much to get, and after you havea permit theyleave you alone for the most part, your pretty much free to hunt with it wheneverand whereever its legal to use a vertical bow, theres really no other restrictions envolved
