Default One question...

I'm a beginner, i've a Barnett Panzer V. This crossbow was of a friend of mine. I've read many negative review on this model but also on Barnett in general.
Could you tell me, please, if my CB is good, for beginner i mean, if is precise or if is better to change?

Thank you in advance

You should always follow the basic rules of safety, check all fastners, string, etc.wax your rails, strings, cables.I shot a Barnett
for about two years and with all thefeedback and what has
happened to others, when shooting I always checked the limbs
with a cotton ball to catch any problems that might arise.I shot
that bow for about 18 months and had no problems, had the trigger
worked on and with my wifes prompting went to a different brand
of crossbow, use it to see if you like it,and if you do you might
look into another brand, try as many as you can, both recurve and
compound!Good luck enjoy,its a wonderful sport!

Barnett has a high percentage of issues compared to some other models. Not everyone is bad. Many Barnett owners are not only very happy, but very loyal to the company. As stated above, check it out regularly and if you see something wrong have it fixed or replace the bow. It is fine for a beginner, and you can always upgrade later. Just keep an eye on it. That is good advice no matter what manufacturer you have...

I've got an old Wildcat and it's never failed me. The trigger pull sux and I absolutely detest the plastic sight rail on it (finally gave up and decided onjust using the iron sights instead of a scope), but it shoots fine as long as I do my part. Your Panzer is a step up from that and is a decent beginner's crossbow.

I've moved on into making and shooting my own midieval replicas, but I still drag out the Barnett from time to time. It pines if I leave it alone too long.

Crazy?? Nah... Just refined tastes. [8D]

Mine aren't that pretty.

Top one is a rolling nut type w/steel prod, the bottom is a rising pin w/wood prod. The extraneous thing hanging off the bottom one is the trigger block safety, to make it legal for hunting. I gotta make a new prod for it. The one shownbroke. [&o]

I've blooded mine, but only with rabbits so far. I'm kinda to the point where it's hard enough to pack myself out of the woods, much less big hunks of meat. Rabbits and squirrels and such aren't that much of a burden.
