Default Got my Vortex!!

Well I got my Excal Vortex and put it together tonight! Man that things is SUPER NICE! I bought it of a guy on Ebay that needed money for Christmas. It was only shot around 10X and is the complete package. I only paid $550 for it shipped. I STOLE THAT SUCKER.... Can't wait till tomarrow. He sent it sighted in with the scope on the stock so all I have to do is check it. Should still be real close to being on. Maybe a few clicks to tweak it in. We still have 9-10 days for late archery season here. Here is what it looks like....

This is definately one of the BEST investments I have made. Also the best deal I have got in a while. It is soooooo much lighter than my Horton Team Realtree was! The guy said the BH's were Wasp BOSS, but theykinda look like SLICKTRICKS.The bolts are the new Excal / Easton FIREBOLTS. Spose to be good but I haven't heard much about them yet. Just thought I'd post the new addition! WAY COOL

Do you feel guilty .

Looks like you need to set the brace hight alittle higher for sure......it should be just about on the closest line to you...

Here is a pic of mine, notice the string hight....

Looks like you did good Chris! As James said your Brace hight looks on the low side. You will notice that there are two lines scribed on the rail. If you keep your string between the two line you will kill a deer any day and have good groups. Excal site and the guys on here told me to keep at the top line and that is considered the "sweet" spot for it and mine has been there ever since. I hit 2" groups at 50 yards with little effort, this is off of a bench though. Good luck and keep us up to date on how you do.

Edit: Wanted to add that the top line is the one closest to you, or your scope, I messed this up the first time, just wanted to pass it along.

If I am not mistakenBoo()recomends that the brace hight with his strings be more to the closest line to you or within a 1/4 inch or so.......I could be wrong but dont think so,maybe I am.Ive been wrong before, but that was before this,so do tell Don .............I like mine so the string just touches the line closest to you......

lol... no I don't feel guilty.Having a cold one actually! I also just won 2 like new OEM Mossberg 500 synthetic rear stocks on Ebay a minute ago. 1 pistol grip and 1 regular.Theywere sold as used but weren't on the gun long.

They guy switched them out for the ATI collapsable ones. I got them both for $32.87 + $6.99 priority shipping!!!! Hell ya... Still need 2 handguards / forends. I will have a nice complete wood stock plus another seperate foreend for sale soon, if anyone wants to buy them PM me.
Now I can start working on my 2 Moss. 500's. One for hunting, the other is gonna be a home defense / tactical. Both 12 ga. For the tactical I am putting a flashlight / pressure switch, 18 1/4"round barrel, black synthetic pistol grip / handguard, vented heat shield for barrel, black sling, and last but not least a head gouger for the end of the barrel....lol. I am putting a regular synth. on my other 500. Oh yea, and I am rebuilding the safety and doing a trigger job on the tactical. The other one is already like brand new with the accu choke2 got it for $100 came with the multi-purpose field barrel. I will be busy for a while!

It may take me awhile to get the money / parts to get'em done (at least the tactical), but I will post some pics, The one I got free from my b-in-law. It had the barrel and stock hacked off, illegal like. Some girl found it after her boyfriend moved out and gave it to my sister and him to get rid of it. So I am working with a handguard, pump action, and reciever basically. It's an old Coast to Coast brand same as Mossberg 500. It also had a decent Mossberg barrel until it was hacked off at the end of the magizine tube....lol CRAZY I stashed the barrel at my dad's so they wouldn't be together! The nice one I am using to hunt with now is a Mossberg model 500-A. Talk to you later....nite everybody.
