Default Excals Scope Mounts!

Lets just say i finally saw the light![8D]As y'all know i have been using Miss Vixen fer my deer hunting. Using Miss Phoenix fer my 3-D shoots! I thought i was going crazy and blind. I would shoot Vixen and then shoot Phoenix, i know i had my scopes set to my liking without having to stock crawl! Wrong! The scope mt. on Vixen has 4 ring slots and one on Phoenix has 5 slots! I had my good hunting scope on Miss Vixen but wrong scope mt. I was having to backup the stock and couldn't get the rings to let the scope go fer enough so i didn't have to back my head up fer full view. Well i pulled base off Phoenix and put on Vixen, it has the 5 slots and now i have hunting scope forward to use right to see full view. I put the other mt. on Phoenix with my Banner 4x and it allows me the full view. My hunting scope just didn't have the barrel clearance needed using the 4 slot scope mt. base.[:-][8D]

Default RE: Excals Scope Mounts!

Another word of caution about Excal scope mounts. There are apparently two of them out there now, the old style and the new style. As far as I can tell [don't have both] the new style has less weaver style dovetail at the REAR of mount allowing one to slide scope more to the front to get proper eye relief.I discovered this when the speed ring wouldn't turn any longer on my new L-zone. It was about 1/8" too far forward and wouldn't clear the mount. If you have an old style mount and a L-zone watch this clearance issue. You can solve the problem w/ a hack saw and a file by cutting some off of the back top of mount, rather than buy a new style mount, which as I understand, has addressed the issue. Fwiw.
