Default New String

I have a Horton Summit 150 and noticed the string wasn't holding up as well I thought it might already (the bow is fairly new). I've seen people mention new strings (BOO) and others, but wasn't sure if anyone thought putting on a new string was a good idea. Can it make much of a difference in arrow speed or kinetic energy? I suppose if the string is shorter, or tighter, it would make a difference. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

"Boo" aka "Dnk" primarily makes strings for Excal recurves. You can change a string on a Horton yourself. You may need to either mark your rail where current string sits at rest [uncocked] or find out how many twists need to be put on new string.

As to your other thread, not enough info to advise you on. What arrow? Bheads or field points? The directions should be under the caps on scope, so many clicks equal what ever at 100 yds. Multiply that by 10 per inch for 10 yds and by 5 per inch for 20 yds. One other tip, don't fool w/ any bheads til you got field points dialed in. Good luck and welcome to the forum!!!

Default RE: New String

99.9% of the strings I make are Flemish strings for recurve or long bows or recurve xbows. I have made strings for compound xbows but those orders sit until I have lots of time. I also require an old set to duplicate. They are not cheap but the purchasers have been very happy. The have been a Maxpoint and a Paradox. I have a set of strings to make for a Ten Point at this moment. I really have no interest in making strings other than Flemish strings but do otherwise to help those who want something special. I have spent countless hours making various jigs and refining the art of making Flemish strings.
