Default FOC % for X bow?

Shooting 20" GT Lazer II shafts with 110 gr inserts, 2" blazers and 100 gr Slicks I'm getting a FOC of 20.42%. For a vertical bow the recommended FOC is between 8-12%. What is the recommended FOC for a x bow?

Don't know, but mine are same as yours except some have 4" vanes and they work damm well!! I got smartened up to them by Danny Miller, who I have the utmost respect for, then noticed 10 pt sells basically the same arrow but w/ a touch more FOC due to lighter weight plastic nocks. Don't think it's coincidence, lol.

If I am remembering correctly ................ 10 - 16%

With crossbows the FOC is not as important as many people think, but it never hurts to be within that range. If your arrows fly true, and your happy with them, then keep them. What alot of people seem to forget is that alot of your accuracy is in how you trust your bow and how confidant you are with it.

Right on Tom. What flys well is what you use. I have never measured FOC and I kill deer and targets well enough thank you. Reported FOCs are a good place to start. I don't measure but I like a high FOC for carbons and aluninum does not seem to care but if anything I think they fly better with a low FOC somewhere in the 15% range. I really don't think it is important but I think you should have a higher FOC with broadheads.

I to am using the Miller killers and mine have a 19.6% if I remember right. On my Horton arrows I used to put three thin washers and that would get me around 18 and they always flew better, but I disliked the washers on it. The Italian site that Don showed us and is in the sticky top post talks about this. They recommend 20% for CB's and they report this is the best with the great groups they are getting at 100 yards. My Danny miller arrows fly the best out of anything ever and some is due to the CB, but they also have went into the target consistently straighter then any arrow I have ever used.

Cossack,

What is the total weight on your arrow?? I am shooting the Beamans and the FOC istoo low so I am looking at making a change and also to start building my own arrows. The FOC on the Beamans measures out at a little under 10% and is causing some flight problems.

My broadhead and insert weighs around 210 grains, the vanes and lacquer spray/glue around 20 total, the nock is 21 and raw bolt about 146 grs for a total of 395 grs. The center of gravity for my vanes is 1.75" to the rear of the shaft.
I used this: http://www.goldtip.com/calculators/foc.asp to calculate my FOC.
