Default Horton Crossbows

I am looking at getting a new Scout crossbow from Horton. They say that this particular model works well with youth and women. Has anyone used Horton before? What feedback do you have on them?

I've own a Horton 200 Hunter Max. Have had nothing but GREAT service out of it. There are about 11 folks around my area that uses Horton x-bows, and I haven't heard of one complaint. There are many good crossbow manufactures out there. Everyone has their opinions on different brands. Some feel like others are better, some, feel like I do about Horton. I think that the Scout will be a great start !!!

Shoot Straight & Stay Safe, You'll Do Just Fine !!!!!

I would go with the Summit if you are in that entry level market. The Summit is a proven bow that has been arond for decades. It also shoots a little faster I think.

I agree with 10 point in choosing the Summit over the Scout. My son in law bought a Summit 3 years ago and it still works great. My brother in law bought a Horton Explorer a year after my son in law and I believe it is the same crossbow only with a different name since they didn't sell the Summit brand that year. Now it looks like they are back to calling it a Summit for whatever reason. I've personally owned Horton, Parker, Ten Point & Excalibur and all have shot well and I've had no problems with any of their customer service. Horton was a little slower to respond to emails but Parker, Ten Point & Excalibur all responded back to me within the same day. My only real complaint with the Horton is their trademark "dial-a-range" feature on the side of the crossbow they refuse to get rid of. Every time I cocked my Horton with a rope cocker I moved the dial-a-range and I lost several bolts before I figured out what was happening. Just be sure to check it after cocking it and you should have no problems. After personally owning the four brands mentioned above I currentlynow justown a Ten Point and an Excalibur. Good luck with your decision.

As far as Horton goes, the Yukon SL is a good entry level bow. I've shot one for two years now and have been extremely pleased. I'll probably catch some slack for this post but I got mine from the Buckmaster's BADF program for the disabled and I couldn't be happier. Would suggest adding a scope though, it helped me take this 8 pt this season.

I do not think you would have a problem with that CB. It is a newer model that came out this year but has pretty much the same parts on it as others just a few simple changes to scale it down to be light and simple to cock. There is alot of people that are happy with Horton, I am one of them. I also own a Excal, but can't forget how good my Horton was to me over the sixteen years that I used them and still do with dad. I think alot of the bad press come from Horton because they sell at Wal-mart. That in turns equals alot of people going out and having a idea and getting a CB with out no research on what to buy or how to shoot it. Then complaining about a product they no nothing about. Please keep in mind this is a entry level CB, not a Cadillac, but will get the job done for you with practice.
