Default A couple of SC crossbow kills this week

I got selected for a 2 day hunt on a state park that only allows archery equipment and has a severe overpopulation problem. I took a doe on both days and a 6 point buck on the last day. Unfortunately the buck was found 2 days later and the coyotes beat me to it. Bolt hung up in far shoulder and rain ruined the bloodtrail. Barnett Revolution with Aftershock Xbow broadheads did a great job though.

and the next day...

Congrats! Nice pics too! Did you have to use your regular tags on them or did they give you tags just for this hunt? Sometimes them hunts do not make you use your paid tag and that is always nice!

Correct. On these draw hunts you are not required to use your doe tags as it's more or less a depredation hunt. They tag it with a harvest report after they have collected their data so I could transport it to a processor. The data they gather from each deer taken is weight, jawbone for aging, brain stem sample for CWD test, area taken, and method used (type of bow).

I was unaware that crossbows were allowed other than by the disabled? BTW, I do know they are allowed to be used in the firearms season but was unaware you could use them for am archery only drawn hunt.

Congratulations! Fine pictures too! It's nice to see someone take the time to make sure there isn't tons of blood around and not show its tongue. It shows respect! Good going and again great pics.
