Default anybody her from illinois

i've heard through the grapevine that they changed some of the crossbow regs. i was told that if you were over 62 you can get a x-bow permit with no disability. i was also told you don't have to be permanently disabled any more to get a permit, just disabled through the course of deer season. anybody know if there is any truth to this? i can't find it in writing anywhere.

Strange that I cannot find this anywhere on the Illinois DNR website. I guess because its so new they havnt updated anything to reflect the new law.

If you go to Horton's and Ten Points web site they list the CB as legal equipment for people 62 and over. The only thing I found on the DNR web site under a search was that on march 25 they voted to allow it at a DNR meeting. You need to call your local DNR and get the facts on this, maybe they changed there mind on it?

I, too, live in central Illinois. Yes, the law has been enacted. Those of us over age 62 can hunt with a crossbow during bow season and gun season. I am looking forward to taking my first CB deer soon after season opens Monday.

I came to Arkansas 2 yrs. ago from Illinois and have a lot of bow
hunting freinds left up there. They said the great "govenor" of the
state must sign the bill, but has'nt yet. I really don't Know if this
is true. I can still buy a resident tag there as I still have a lifetime
hunting license from that state.

PJ,
You need all the normal tags and licenses you would have if hunting with a bow, but if you are over 62 you can use a crossbow in place of a compound. You need your drivers lic. with you as proof of age to use the crossbow. Beyond that, you are good to go!Have Fun!
