Default What Would You Do Here?

I went and looked at 100 acres for lease that's loaded w/ big hogs, lots of deer and some turkeys. Has several ponds and wet weather creeks, the ponds are only water around in summer. Has fruit trees, persimmons, lots of hardwood nut trees. Great spot. Lease land around here goes for $3 to $4 per acre. The gal that's handling this for parents is asking $1000 per year. I have a partner, so my half would be $500. I've been looking for local hog hunting area for quite awhile so I can hunt year round. Ar only lets you hunt them on public property when something else is in season, and then only w/ weapon legal for that season. My two unfruitful trips outta state probably cost that much each. The Texas jaunt was $350 for outfitter alone. This is 45 minutes from my house. There are some severe restrictions on the deal like no fires or camping and only my 4 wheeler on property, as they didn't want any at all, but since I'm kinda semi-disabled they would accept mine only. Should I go for it?

Go for it Dan! The property I was on went to $1000 ea. We had 70 members @ 1K ea. and NO CAMPING! I paid $125 per month to spot the travel trailer on a members property across the road from the property.

It was 1700 acres owned by Proctor & Gamble, boardering San Pedro50,000 acre WMA. Twenty miles south of the Georgia Line. There were plenty of Deer, Hogs and Turkeys. The most members on the property at one time might have been 10 at the most. On week days 5 at the most. I was a member for 5yrs. I started at $500 a year fee's. One of reasons in quit, is because it was about 350 miles northfrom the house, I left in 1999.

You better grab it now awshucks or somebody else will soon. It's a lot of money but it's worth it to have what you say is there AND all to yourself. Hunt'in ain't gett'n any cheaper nowadays. Good hunt'n land is high when you can find it. GO GET IT.

If you have the money I would go for it! Like you said your other trips cost that much apiece and if it meant cutting out one of them I would still say its worth it. Good spots are hard to find and if you think its a honey hole you better jump on it bud!

Sounds like it is a great location with good habitat. I drive at least 45 minutes one way to one of the closer WMA I hunt at. Wish I could find a place like that around Tulsa. Too bad about no camping though. Almost had a shot at a buck the other night but he caught me as I was lowering my Excocet to clear the brush (less than 17 yards too) & he was gone before I could touch the trigger.
