I like to shoot all broadheads leading up to the season but they only give you a few O-Ringswith a new pack of Rocket Steelheads. I simply use a razor to cut up peep sight rubber intopieces that are about the same size as the O-rings. My Bow monkey gives me the rubber for freeas he should cause he gouges me on everything else. My only question is how do I know if the blades are opening? They seem to be. Geez I feel like Mcgiver>>>>>Whack!

Planter: Watch the crap fly here, lol. Danny Miller, who you know well, says the Slick Trick 100 gr 1 /8" dia 4 blade is "the greatest b-head made". All I can say is I tend to agree, ya'll might wanna try them!!!
I learned how to tell with dons paper test. Set up some thin paper like news paper about two inches in front of your target. You will have to tape it up but I just put two 2*2 on the side of my target which put the paper about two inches away from target. Then taped it in place. If you have the paper to far away your vanes will tear the paper and you will not be able to tell if they opened up. Then you just shoot and look at the slice before you pull your arrows out. Good luck!

Hotburn, if the paper is 2" in front of the target I don't think it's enough pressure to open the head before it actually hits the target.Shouldn't it be on the front of the target so when it opens it shows the marks?

The paper test works great to let you know if they are blowing the rings off in flight, but how can I tell if they are opening on impact? I may try the slicks next year but I have a dozen Steelheads so gotta use them first. Plus it's one more thing I don't have to buy.>>>>>>Whack!

I am sorry planter, I thought you were talking about pre-mature openlation! With my tekans I can see that they are closed on the paper, but then because mine is the style that the fully open as they go in I can see that on the target they are fully open as they enter by the slices in my foam. If you are using the hindge kind I have no idea how to tell if they are open in the target.

The ball and chain has a nice beef roast in the fridge for Sunday dinner. I am gonna take a shot at that in the AM before she gets up. That should tell me if my peep sight rubber O-Rings are working properly and opening up on impact. If she catches me it will be me who is the dead meat.I hate premature openlation >>>>>>>>>>>Wha ck!
