As most of you know, I got a Paradox awhile back. This bow came w/ custom thumbhole wood stock and had a stabilizer on the front, which came back toward the stock. The mount for it covered up the front sling post hole, which I've been thinking about since I got it. Yesterday, I decided to see just what this little pound and a half of extra weight was doing for the bow accuracy wise. I shot 3 at 30 off of bags, then took it off and figured my groups would go all to he11. 1st shot w/o it was about 2 1/2" high left at 11 oclock. Shot a couple more and by looking at the groups thru the scope, decided I'd rather carry the extra weight for the better groups, so I put it back on. When I went to pull the arrows, I was amazed that they were both the same size and I'd trashed a vane on both groups. I did notice a tad more noise firing w/o it, but I ended up taking it back off for good and put the sling post in. All I had to do was re-sight it, took one click each to get that job done. The V-zone moves poi a half inch per click at 20, which is fine for hunting unless you like to shoot flies on the targets, lol [I do]. Both groups had two tight together w/ one a tad off, both would have hit a quarter, but would have been covered by a half-dollar. I think the stabilizer would be good for extra weight for off-hand target work, but the thing is already kinda heavy for my shoulder, so for my bow of choice is still the Phoenix, which I can offhand all day.
Dan, that is flat out amazing that a stabilizer moves an arrow so much! The main purpose of a stabliizer on a vert bow is to balance a bow. I know guys put them on to quiet a bow as well as to counter act some very very minor torque. I guess there is some torque in a crossbow some where. I cannot imagine where it is or how it gets there and I cannot imagine any other reason for your results.
Can you think of anyother reason?

So you say it shot higher, do you think the stabilizer was absorbing alot of the bows energy and now the arrows are going faster with out it? Good info!

I am great for having a one track mind, not paying attention to details, andcombined w/ ever failing memory, am not the source for real great info, lol. Both groups were a tad high if I recall, remember I was just going for comparative size, really not caring where they were at on the target, but I think this is the first time I grouped it since I had the new string put on, and since that was my first eperience w/ new strings/compounds, I don't know what's the norm for poi changes. I know the recurves don't change a lick as long as you keep the brace height near what it was.
I do know this however. I have about 2 doz LII's at 431 gr. I got some LII's from Greywolf on Excal forum that are the same except for bright orange vanes and wraps. They weigh right at 442 gr, but have 17.5% FOC vs 20% in the others. This minor difference is excatly 2" at 30 yds. [10 gr wraps to rear]
I've marked the speed dial on my V-Zones w/ small scribe marks and can go back and forth between the two w/ amazing [to me] regularity. 2" ain't that much off of sand bags at exactly 30, but could make a big difference coupled w/ offhanding a shot while stalking, and throw in a little misjudgement on range to boot. That's probably the only good thing about being an accuracy freak and wanting more than I would ever need for the boiler room on a deer, but I know any error is mine vs the equipment. I have a ground blind and use a converted crutch for a shooting stick in it since I gotta haul half the farm out anyhow, lol. I would bet $ I could take a rabbit at 50 yds w/ either of the two recurves, and just haven't shot the Pdox at the longer ranges to see about it. I'm not meaning to sound cocky here either guys/gals, the V-zone eliminates hold over judgement and I range every shot, and as we pretty well know, all the bows we got are about the same for accuracy. Sorry for the long post, Dan ps No don't think the stabilizer affects fps Hotburn, maybe 2-3 but just guessing, as both groups were the same depth in target.
You excal guys keep talking about the Vzone scope and my toung just keeps licking my lips more!!! If ya keep it up I may just have to buy one!! I like the scope that my horton came with but hate the fact that the extra hairs in it are not right on and un adjustable! Maybe I will buy a Vzone scope, just not sure how the old lady would like having a excal on her!
