I'm seriously thinking of puting a scope on my Horton since I grew up shooting riffles w/ scopes and am more comfortable with them than those crummy red dotters[:'(]
SO, is the Excal veri-zone worth the price? It looks like a good piece of hardware, and I like that you can adjust the dots exactly to your ACTUAL speed.

The V-zone [got three] is the best xbow scope available in my book, followed by 10 pts new one w/ dots that can be lit up in two colors. The reason I prefer the V-zone is it will compensate for virtually any bow or arrow weight. If you are an accuracy freak or a tinkerer, you will really get the most out of the V-zone. If you just shoot one bow, one weight arrow, those lit up dots in poor light on the 10 pt are the answer. You can get a deal on the V-zone if you do some shopping, there's one heck of a deal going on on Ebay now. About $80

Also do you see any serious advantage in carbon arrows ? I tried some twice and the big differance I see is more expensive they shoot the same with the same trajectory within my hunting distances and I can't seem to justify the price.
When I got my crossbow I went and got a scope to and the frist thing I did when I got home was put it on. I liked it but I was reading some post on here and some pople was saying that thay could shoot later in the day with the red dot so I put the red dot back on and shoot it a few times all the way up to 9:00 p.m. so I put the scope on e-bay and made me 30.00 on top have whatI got it for. I will stay with the red dot "jmo".

also the TenPoint scope not only has the red and green dots it has the crosshairs, so if you are out hunting or just plinking arrows at targets and your battery dies you can continue on and just use the crosshairs.
Lee: The V-zone is the best xbow scope out there, followed by Htoler's beloved !0 pt. There are advantages and disadvantages for both. If a person uses one xbow and one arrow, and the combo is within the Proviews preset reticules, the lit centers in two colors may be the answer. They have 3 ranges, which you can pick your choice from. I'm guessing here, since I don't use the Proview, but would think one would use the middle crosshair at 30 and then see where the 20 and 40 hit. The V-zone on the other hand is right on the money at 10-50. It does not matter what fps you're getting, once you sight it in at 20, you just turn the "speed" ring up or down until your poi is on at 30. You do not want to use the adjustments under the caps after your 20 yd sight-in. Actually, it is a 2x-4x variable power scope, except where the normal rifle type scopes have the ring graduated in magnifications, the V-zone has them in fps. If you hit low at 30, turn the ring down to lower fps, opposite if you are high. The triangles on verticle hair never really move, all is accomplished by changing the field of view. I've toyed w/ several range compensating rifle scopes over the years, and this is the first that really does what they claim. Ironically, I was on a hog hunt in Texas a few months back, and had a shot at a bobcat at 30 yds, but could not see my 30 yd triangle in V-zone due to supplied light bewing too weak. Would have been a perfect time to have the Proview w/ lit reticule. Can't win them all!!! LOL
I won't comment on what the "best" scope is for a xbow because it depends on where and when you use it. I have had a Nikon 30mm(tube size) 1.5 x 6 gold, a 1.5 x 6 elite, bushnell halo, a 1.5 x6 30mm(tube size) bushnell and a 2.5 x10 50mm elite (I think thats it) on my exocet (not all at once you wise guys!), My vixen has the Varizone on it. I have hunted with all of those scopes on the exocet and because I really don't mind holding over as it were I really prefer the halo over everything. There are times that I am stuck in a hole in the woods where it gets too dark way too soon and thats where my nikon really shines or is better because of the brightness factor. One of the truly great things about the halo is the lack of parallax and the use of two eyes to really see what is happening outside of the scope picture. I think that the varizone is good for the money but lacks brightness. I guess if I some day I will get another nikon 1.5 x 6 scope with a 30mm tube and slap it on my exocet and be happy as a compromise that lets me stalk and sit in those dark holes in timber. The nikon is super bright, you can have both eyes open and has a humungus field of view. Its a toss up between the nikon and the halo for me.

I never seen a bit of differance with carbons compared to new aluminums. The only thing I seen was that the carons last me alot longer. I have a larg pile of alluminums that look ok but they are bent a little. I am sure it is me but I think the alluminum bends real easy when I pull them out of the target. The carbons always stay straight and never bend when I take them out of the target.

Dnk: I was talking about xbow scopes, multi-reticuled, and the further under $100 the better, lol. those Nikons are great, and any 30mm is gonna have more light. Guess I shoulda been more clear.
