Default Smoker chip ???

Just wondering what you guys favor for wood chips in a smoker for doing Jerky. Also any particular brands, etc. I had previously bought some hickory that produced a very nice flavor but can only find it in mesquite locally right now. I did find some hickory at wally world but unsure if it good or not?

Any thoughts??

Thanks

Wally's will work just fine , hickory is pretty much hickory .
BTW , Wally also carries smoker pellets in a variety of wood species , a packet of them smokes for about an hour . If you just want a hint of smoke flavor , or want to layer different flavors they're hard to beat . I use them in recycled pot pie tins topped with aluminum foil .

I don't have smoker. Next best thing is a weber dome. I have used oak and cherry straight from the wood pile. Have done chicken with oak and venison steaks with cherry wood. The woods can be the best place to find interesting smokin wood.
