Default Squirrel brains????

I heard on the radio today this gal mention here dad would go squirrel hunting and the first thing he did after cleaning them was boil the skull, knock a hole in it and suck the brain out! Have you ever heard of this?

ya,Taz;we ate them all the time when I was akid.
my dad would get mad at me because I would shoot the squirrels in the head with my 22.he would say mess up the shoulders but leave the head along.
they were good, mom would stew the heads with the old ones.crake it open with your spoon and dig them out.

I admit squirrel is one of my favorite wild game dishes, but squirrel brains...I think I'll sit this one out.

My grandad carried a .410 to check the trotlines on the river at his boyhood home at Goliad Tx. He called it his "trotline gun" and shot squirrels from the boat. He used to tell me that he was never much for eating the brains, but his dad loved them.
