Default Boiled peanuts

What are your boiled peanut recipies?

Zak's boiled peanuts ©

2 lbs. raw peanuts
1 lb. crab boil
1 cup salt
2 handfulls of dried red chili peppers- 1 handful hand crushed, 1 handful whole

Put the peanuts in a big bowl full of water. Add half of the crab boil, half of the salt, add crushed dried red chili peppers. Let sit overnight.

In the morning add the other half of crab boil, the other half of salt, and the whole dried red chili peppers. Put in a crock pot on high for 12 hours. A pan also works.

Eat steaming hot.

Enjoy!

in the south we boil peanuts in a tub or sugar kettle,5 to 10 gal. at a time.
we take the nuts and about 2 to 3 boxes of salt.get the sugar kittle of water boiling add the salt and put in the nuts, boil for about 1 hr.test for salt content.if not enough add more. then boil till the nuts get tender( about another hr.) .if not salty enough let set in water for about an hr.then they will be cool enough to eat.

take whats left(if any) and put in bags and freeze till later.

All I can find here is the small spanish peants. Do any of you raise larger ones? I see them in the stores but they are not raw. I would like to plant some in my garden next year.
If you do would you mind sending me a hand full or letting me know where I might get some. I would pay for the shipping. Again not a large amount just enough for a med. sized garden to have about 6 plants
Thanks and please e-mail me
Rick
