Default growing herbs

Does anybody grow their own herbs? I have basil thyme oregano and garlic going and just harvested some basil today for pesto and and upcoming venison roast. This is easy stuff to do, especially by container gardening. The wildlife so far haven't munched the stuff and most of these herbs are ready for use. I started most from seed, but bought some plants to get started. This is a real enhancement to your culinary experience ;a well cooked game dinner is a thing of beauty!

I've got basil, parsley, and chives. Can someone explain what an oregano plant looks like, how big the leaves are and how tall the plant gets? I planted some the same time as the basil and all I got was these scrawney little things.[:@] It was my first try.

My wife is growing a ton of herbs. We have basil, thyme, rosemarry, oregano, parsley, lemon verbena, lemon balm, garlic chives, dill and the list goes on. I'll tell you what. I make a cajun basil cream sauce for over chicken and pasta and it has to be the best pasta I ever ate. My wife wants me to make it every night! That is by far my most favorite herb. It's also good mixed with olive oil for marinating mozzarella cheese.

We grew basil a few years, or tried to but my dog wouldn't stop leaving his calling card on them and killed them. I don't think I would have used them if he didn't kill them just 'cause the way they were watered.[:'(]
