Default Sheephead Mushrooms

Does anyone out there know how to process Sheephead mushrooms? Once they are picked, how do you go about cleaning them and preparing them to eat? How about some suggestions on how to prepare them and some recipes. A friend gave me a bag that he collected. He par boiled them and then blanched them in cold water to clean them. I thought that mushrooms should not be washed prior to cooking, because that caused the loss of flavor. The mushrooms he gave me tasted somewhat mild and not much flavor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
