Legacy: We process all of our deer and use The Food Saver and it works just like they say that it will. We put 6-7 in the freezer last year with no freezer burn on any of them.

We use the food saver too and had venison in the freezer for over a year and it still tasted fresh.

Just spend a little more money and get the one with all the bells and whistles we wish we had.

This should be on the cooking forum so I hope you read the directions that come with whatever you decide to buy thoroughly. anyhow I have the Kenmore seal and save and it seems to be a duplicate to the food savor only a couple dollars less. Haven' t had any problems with it. It does the job it supposed to. However I have used different types of bags made by diff. manufactures and some seem have leaks in the seal either I made or the factory made so now I double seal everything. They to tell you to check their seals but if your paying good money for their bags you expect them to be good. Have Fun and start priceing freezers.

I did what jagertiger said and bought the professional II, that thing is the nuts. I use it for everything. I did some research and the pro was worth the extra money for a couple reasons. The two biggest for me were the heavy duty sealer bar, so if you' re doing a couple deer at once it won' t over heat. And the one touch sealing, I can set the thing up hit the button and leave it. While I' m getting another bag ready it' s finishing up the last one. If you do a lot of meat you can' t go wrong for the extra money. I' ve open roasts that were 3 years old and couldn' t tell the difference.

i really want to pick one of these thing up someday. one thing i found that has worked real well was the ziploc freezer bags that said " double guard" . its like a bag within a bag, they worked awesome! but i haven' t seen how they work 2 or more years down the road. worked great for one year.

I use the Kenmore model. It works great. I put 4 deer in the freezer last year and am still eating it. No freezer burn. Also, I got the canisters and they work great for marinating meat.

I' m on my second food saver.wouldn' t be with out one. they work great as long as you don' t beat the bags around in the freezer. you know a frozen bag of meat is hard as a block of ice and will cut a bag.
I put fish in them and they are as good as fresh caught(almost).
