Default Turkey Fryer Oil

A couple of questions if you may; How often or after how many uses do you get out of your oil? How long does it stay good for before going bad? I.ve read oil goes rancid after awhile. I have some left over for about 8 months used only twice and seems ok but I also have 6 gallons of new Oil just as soon throw out the old but I hate wasteing anything. Any comments or this stuff is History.

Filtering is the only way to give your oil longer life. Taste is your best allie in telling when it' s going bad.

Thanks Guys. I usually go four times then toss it, Can get expensive after awhile. Oh I do filter it also. Started out using Paper towels now I use coffee filters. Takes a while though, must be patient, just like on stand.

You can filter the oil thru cheese cloth. That' s what we use and we store it (peanut oil) in a large plastic container and keep it in the frig. After using the same oil 3-4 times, we toss it and start fresh again. It may be OK to use more times, but why chance ruining a great meal for the sake of fresh oil....

One of the guys at deer camp says to fry a mess of potatoes in the oil and then you can store it at room temp. indefinitely. This guy seems to know about this kind of stuff and I' ve eaten turkeys fried in this oil.....and here I sit. He is the same guy that introduced me to canning deer meat. I can' t remember if he was sober when he told me about the oil.....

Frying potatoes supposed to clean or purify it somehow. I believe you still have to strain it after that.Although I don' t, I just pour the oil back into the bottle except for the bottom ounce or two. Always works for me. Great tip only I don' t know if I was sober when I heard about it May \be it was your friend who told me
