Default Opening weekend recipes?

So, opening weekend up at deer camp - how many people do you need to feed, and what' s the meal?

I' m thinking this year, with 7 guys in camp, about trying a ' whole hog in the ground' type recipe. Slow-cooked with coals all day long..... oh, man!

In the past, just me, my Dad, and my brother - the best recipe my Dad does is tenderloins, butter, shallads, and a hot cast-iron skillet. Sweet potatoes and corn... mmmmmmm.... Excuse me, I think I' ve gotta run home now.

Is it a bad thing that the best meal I had in conjunction with hunting was the Waffle House after we finished cleaning my first buck?

we don' t usually have a cook before the opening day,but about 11:30 be break and all pull out the fish cookers and each member of our group(usually about 10) will cook something different.then we feast for abou 30 min. then go back to hunting.
we break for about 1 to 2 hrs. then hunt till dark.that happens every day of the season.

At are camp every hunter brings a main dish for dinner. Usually it' s stew, homade chilli, and steaks with side dishes. One year my buddy brought a 20lb chinook he caught days earlier. We never get to fancy but we always get full

I had always been the camp cook for all my hunting trips here in WI.
Since we are out in the dark to back in the dark hunters I make meals in advance that we could either put in a dutch oven and bury and later when I built the cabin, I' d use a crockpot with a timer.
All camp meals were done with wild meat, Deer, Duck, Elk, Turkey whatever.
First night is always thick stew with heavy breads like rye or onion rolls, and fresh back strapes on the second day for breakfest with the eggs and spuds. Evening meals after that were things like chili, stroganoff, spaghetti.
After supper I' d pack lunches for the gang to carry out with them for the next days hunt and set up the stuff for breakfest.
Even with all the work, walking, draggin and hanging deer we' d all gain a pound or two.

Here is a good artery clogging recipe for fish or almost any meat.
3 cups BBQ corn chips
3 cups BBQ chips
12 saltines
1 cup flour
1 cup corn meal
garlic salt
black pepper
crush the chips and corn chips in a plastic zip lock bag with a rolling pin until fine and all other ingredients coat fish or meat and cook to perfection
