Default I smoked with Avacado Wood..

Folks,
It does matter the kind of wood you smoke with..some is sweeet..some is mild some is over bearing.I cut down an Avacado tree last spring..and tried it out last week..To over bearing..

My all time favorite though is citrus wood..especially grapefruit..the wood when dried is hard as marble..and has a nice grain as well..makes a nice smoke...my 2nd best wood is hickory..

I like the fruitwoods for chicken and turkey, especially apple, though not all of them. I did a turkey with cherry once, it tasted like ham when it was done. I use nutwoods like hickory and pecan for beef and pork, though apple does pork well also.

I tried apple and was not totally sold on it..After using avacado twice..I would NOT reccomend it..just doesn't do to..

Smokes I've tried and HIGHLY reccomend..

1 st place....Grapefruit or other citrus wood..similiar to hickory but sweeter
2nd place.....Hickory ..king of smokes for sure
3rd..... Pecan..ok
