That is actually a great idea. Doesn't look that hard to make. I might have to try that. I go on lots of camping trips by myself and that might be a great thing to have with me.

What fuel do you use? How do you shut it down? how do you keep the plastic knob from melting? have you used this to heat anything? How do you transport a fuel soaked stove that has been shut down?

The fuel is card board rolled and put in a Tuna can. Then you melt parafin wax and pore in the Tuna can till it is just about full, let harden to use later. You can just cover the tuna can with anything non burnable, like the bottom of the can you heat. The knob can be replaced with metal one if it melts, I didn't have a prob with the old one. This is a replacement for a old one I used. I mostly leave it in my box blind, The Tuna can can be moved in cold weather in about 30 min. I have several Tuna cans made up. It can also be used for heat. This is a old Boy Scout project!!

You could also substitute rubbing alcohol for the paraffin, this would allow you to adjust the heat by partially covering the top of the can, and you wouldn't have such a smoky flame. A variant of this is the coffee can/TP stove, you use a small coffee can into which you stuff a roll of TP without the cardboard core saturated with rubbing alcohol. Great little blind heater.
