Default food prep question

i read on a jerky kit, that when dealing with wild game, you should have it frozen 60 days before consuming it, is that true, cause i was hoping to go squirrl hunting this weekend and if i got enough over sat and sunday, i would like to make alittle, jerky, and has anyone had squirll jerky? is it anygood?

I am not sure exactly what you read. But freezing(below -10 for at least 30 days)will kill the Tricinosis parasite which could be in Wild Boar or bear. Some recommend it for commercial pork too. As jerky is not cooked to a high enough temp you should take the appropriate precautions if using those meats. I don't know if squirrels can get trichinosis?

ok well also if i dont get enough tree rat aka squrril could i mix it with some deer burger so it will give me enough to make jerkY?

I've never done a mixed meat jerky but I can't see why it wouldn't work, just be sure to grind the meats together and mix well.
