Go to your local butcher and ask for a pound of "pork" sausage casings. If you want larger ones ask for "beef" casings. They are usually cured in salt so they have to be rinsed real well before using them.Good luck in your sausage making.

Walmart also sells the casing, but they are for summer sausage.

What type of casings do you use for making jerky? Do yu have to roll them to flatten them or does the type of end on the jerky blaster determine this? Thanks for yoiur input.

Jerky doesn't need casings. And I'm guessing ur talking about ground jerky. I believe the tip on the jerky shooter does all the work 4 ya, no mashing necessary.

I make breakfast sausage out of boar, I make summer sausage and "slim Jims" out of deer, I buy all my casings from two places, I buy synthetic casings for the summer sausage in the 1.75 inch Dia. and I buy cologen for fresh breakfast sausage and slimjims they are purchased in the 19 mm Dia. for slim jimms and 22 mm for sausage. check out these links .

I prefer these to "hog middles because the cologen are eatible and the synthetic just peel off as you slice the summer sausage. and require no care at all, just soak the synthetic in water to make them pliable before stuffing.
